Bio
Healer is a mish-mosh of artists - Ivan de Prume is the former drummer of White Zombie and is a multi-platinum, Grammy nominated artist. Ivan has expanded his playing and tastes to include world music and all kinds of great percussion on top of his already kick ass, hard hitting metal style (and trips to Black Rock City have given him new inspiration every time he's gone). Ivan is originally from Brooklyn, New York and now resides in Salem, Oregon. Scott von Heldt is an accomplished guitar player and vocalist who has a wide range of training and influences in his past including everything from metal to contemporary Christian rock. He played with the popular mid-west band, Kurai, and is also an accomplished author, publishing "Mind Over Metal" in 2008. Scott hails from Sandusky, Ohio but now calls Los Angeles, California home. Healer uses technology to allow them to create music and be thousands of miles away. Ivan operates a professional recording studio, Burningsound, and has created virtual capabilities allowing he and Scott to write, record, and practice music together across the miles.
Healers sound is at once epic and very beautiful with a powerful sentiment that is refreshingly different in heavy music. This eclectic melding of musical styles and talents produces a passionate energy, and intense dynamic that can only be described as World Metal. Heavy guitar riffs and double bass drumming mix with world melodies to offer the listener some much needed candy for their ears and energy for their veins. Healer also features a rare instrument in the world of metal music on many of its songs: a violin. This classical stringed instrument adds a sweetness to Healers sound that's original and fresh. On their debut album, Awakening, Healer delivers a package of songs that will keep its audience coming back for more and is winning over fans across the world.
Coming from a solid heavy metal background, Healer surprises it's listeners with an instrumental track (Yailly) on their debut album that features a unique stringed instrument called a yailly tambur. This song is a performance not to be missed by anyone who loves any genre of music - a masterpiece on anyone's terms. The rest of the tracks are not to be ignored and are a breakthrough sound coming onto the metal scene. Healers music appeals to people that have been die hard metal fans for their whole life and people who thought they didnt like metal at all. In the end, Healer wants to write and perform music for an audience that has been thirsting for something great and really different to come along and they strive to complete that mission because you, the fan, are the reason we can do what we love thanks for listening!
Healer is currently writing in the studio and plan to have their next release available by December, 2009. Healer is planning a tour of the United States for summer, 2009 and hope to see you all there!
